What is the difference between cbx-mcp, cbx-cli, and the Platform?

cbx-mcp is free OSS for editor-time AWS advice via MCP — no account. cbx-cli is free OSS for terminal planning and audit; cb-cli is the paid CLI tier with hosted extras. The Platform is governed SaaS: ChangeSets, approvals, apply in your account, and the pricing matrix below. You can start with MCP or CLI and add Platform when production governance is the job.

What counts as a change?

A change is one governed run through proposal, checks, approval, apply in your account, and record. The matrix shows what we count: deployments, AI sessions, security checks, and the rest. Light use can consume sessions or checks without a full production deploy, which is why those rows are separate. In onboarding we align on definitions if your security policy needs exact wording.

How do I compare plans or pick a tier?

Use the feature matrix for limits. Headline prices help finance; the rows help engineering map environments and volume to a tier. If you sit between tiers, we usually recommend the higher one so you are not surprised by overages. Pilots often use a plan with headroom so you test the workflow, not the cap. Treat the table as the source of truth for what moves when you go up a tier. Bring your actual project count, environment count, and expected deploy volume to the conversation; those three numbers line up with the most common upgrade triggers.

Can I change plans mid-cycle?

Yes. Upgrades and downgrades are timed so you do not lose access you need mid-month, and so lower limits apply fairly. Proration and invoice timing depend on monthly versus annual and on your order form. Ask sales or support for your case, especially if you are mid-quarter with procurement or finance sign-off.

Is there a free trial beyond the Free tier?

The Free plan is the standing trial with real shape and published limits. We sometimes run a pilot for teams that need full-tier limits for a window. That is a conversation, not a self-serve card, so the evaluation matches how you will run the path and which limits you need to test. We set the window and scope in writing before you start.

Do you offer discounts for startups?

We do not list a universal startup discount. If the published tier is a stretch, say so in the pilot or contact form. We are a small team, so we have limited room, and we will be direct about what we can do instead of a program we do not run. The Free tier and the public matrix are how we keep pricing legible for everyone on the site.

What happens if I exceed plan limits?

The product blocks or prompts an upgrade, depending on the limit. We do not silently add overage line items for every lever in the matrix. Repeatedly hitting the same cap usually means a higher tier or a short conversation about Premium, where custom limits can make sense. The goal is a predictable line item on our side, separate from your AWS bill.

How does annual billing work?

Where annual is offered, you pay twelve months in one period at the effective monthly rate from the plan cards. The term renews on the same date unless you cancel or renegotiate. The invoice is for the full annual amount. Compare the monthly and annual numbers in the cards when you model cash flow versus per-month cost. The roughly twenty percent spread in the public table is the usual gap between the two; your order form is authoritative if it differs.

Are AWS costs included?

No. You pay AWS for infrastructure and support. You pay us for the product. The app can surface cost signals for governance. It does not replace your cloud invoice, and we are not a reseller of AWS services. Spikes in AWS spend from your workloads do not change the CloudBooster subscription by themselves; limits in the product are in the matrix, not in your raw cloud bill.

Can I cancel anytime?

On monthly plans, cancel before renewal. You keep access through the period you already paid. Annual plans commit for the term. We do not refund partial years by default. Ask support if you have an edge case. We document data retention and offboarding in the product terms, and we walk through it when you ask. If you need a short checklist for your own exit runbook, request it from support while you are still on a paid plan.

CloudBooster pricing

You pay for CloudBooster as a product tier. Limits on projects, environments, seats, and governance scale with the plan. You do not pay us for EC2, RDS, or your AWS support. With bring-your-own-account, AWS bills you. Our fee covers the app and the governed change path.

How does CloudBooster pricing work?

Platform plans are sized by how much of the governed path you use (deployments, AI sessions, checks, seats, projects, environments), not by your raw AWS bill.

Pick monthly or annual where both are shown. Annual is one yearly charge at a lower effective monthly rate. Renewals and mid-cycle changes follow your order form; pilots are scoped in writing.

What about AWS costs?

You pay Amazon Web Services for what runs in your account. CloudBooster does not resell AWS or mark up your cloud line items. On a paid product tier you have our subscription and your normal AWS relationship for infrastructure. Cost hints in the app support governance; they are not a replacement for your billing console.

When is Premium the right fit?

Growth fits many teams with separate approvers and a solid audit story. Premium is for separation of duties, full audit and SIEM export, enterprise SSO, scheduled security work, and priority support. Custom pricing follows a short scoping call. We are straightforward in pilot about what is live, what is on the roadmap, and what your security or compliance reviewers can put in a packet today versus next quarter.
